Hi, I’m Teesha, The Owner of Violet Takes.
Hi, I’m Teesha. I was born and raised in Queens, New York, and I’m the creator of Violet Takes. I’m 22 years old, self-made, and currently studying at Queens College. I’ll be graduating in 2026 with my bachelor’s degree, working toward my dream of becoming a cardiothoracic surgeon.
While medicine is my long-term path, photography has been my creative passion for the past three and a half years. It’s how I connect with people, tell their stories, and preserve real, emotional moments. I built this business from the ground up, inspired by my love for storytelling, connection, and my two cats, Violet and Tobi.
I come from a rich cultural background: Colombian, Panamanian, and Jamaican. That blend of heritage means a lot to me, and I love getting to celebrate other cultures through my work. I’ve had the honor of documenting Muslim, Asian, Caribbean, African, and multicultural weddings, and every single one reminds me how powerful love can be. Being invited into those moments, even just for the day, is something I truly value. And yes, I’m still working on mastering Spanish. I’m also a plant-fanatic, and while my thumb isn’t green, I’ll never give up on my dream farm/garden.
Whether I’m capturing weddings in New York and Long Island or traveling to new places, my goal is always the same: to create warm, timeless images that reflect the light in every story.
My Inspirations: Violet & Tobi
Violet and Tobi aren’t just my pets. They’re my heart, my support system, and my world. I got Violet first in March after I moved out on my own, so we say she’s an Aries. She’s smart, a little jealous, and definitely the one in charge. Tobi was born on July second, and even though he’s the baby, he’s calm, gentle, and full of love. Violet actually taught him how to meow, and now they’re completely bonded. They communicate with each other and with me in ways that feel real and deep.
I’ve been a pet sitter since high school and have always loved animals. I care for everything from cats and dogs to reptiles and snakes. Working at pet stores also gave me even more knowledge and helped me understand their behavior and needs better. That experience shaped the way I care for my own pets and others.
I didn’t grow up with the strongest family relationships, so moving out and creating my own space with Violet and Tobi changed everything. They brought me comfort, stability, and love when I needed it most. I’ve been training them to go for walks and explore safely outdoors. Every moment with them inspires me, and they’ve become a huge part of the heart behind Violet Takes.
